7 Tips to Create the Perfect Work from Home Environment
Thanks to the ongoing pandemic, many people have said goodbye to office life and hello to working from home.
While there are many perks - no commute, the ability to wear pyjama bottoms all day long, and spending more time with your loved ones - the novelty can soon wear off. If your work environment isn’t up to scratch, you may find yourself feeling drained and unable to switch off when you sign out for the evening.
The team at Harrison Cropper Garstang Home Accessories Shop have some ideas on how to create the perfect environment for your home office, allowing you to separate your home and work life. Let's take a look!
5 Tips to Create a Happy & Productive Home Office Space
1. Pick a quiet spot
If you spend your workday making important calls and attending zoom meetings, you’re going to need a quiet spot in your home. Pick a spot away from the central hub of your home, using some sort of divider such as a bookcase or wall if possible. Whatever you do, don’t work from your bed! Set up a table or a desk that you can stand up from and leave at the end of the day, allowing you to disconnect from your work.
2. Get the right lighting
Studies show that natural light can encourage productivity, so try and pick a spot near a window. If this isn’t possible, we recommend lighting up your space with a table lamp such as our Mosira Matt Black and Bronze Lamp Base to create a light and comforting workspace. This is especially important as we approach the colder months and the days draw in early.
3. Make sure you have a comfy chair
A comfy chair is a MUST when working from home. Whether you invest in a luxury office chair or add some soft cushions to a chair you have already, you need to be comfy if you’re sitting at it all day. Our Glamour Velvet cushions are super soft and perfect for adding extra comfort to your chair.

4. Decorate with plants and greenery
Not only do plants add colour and life to your home office but they also increase productively and reduce stress. However, if you’re not a fan of real plants we have an array of stunning faux flowers that are sure to add a decorative touch to your desk, without the need for watering. If you’re limited for space, try one of our Mini Succulents to liven up your space.
5. Get organised
A tidy space is a tidy mind. Getting organised is key to a healthy work life, we have a range of stunning notebooks by Voyage Maison for jotting down notes and important points. Plus, what’s more satisfying than purchasing new stationery?
6. Personalise your space
Adding a photo of a happy memory or of a loved one can instantly lift your mood. Personalising your space is so important, especially in a time like this when we need to stay positive and be reminded of better things to come. Our grey and white wood effect frame is perfect for displaying your favourite photographs.
7. Keep the room smelling fresh
A perk of working from home is that you have full control over it, meaning if you want to light a candle with your favourite scent, you can! Try adding a scented candle or a reed diffuser to create a cosy, calm feeling for your office space.
