5 Simple Steps to Create the Perfect Cosy Corner

5 Simple Steps to Create the Perfect Cosy Corner

With a flick of the switch the seasons have changed. Gone are long summer nights in the garden, laughing with friends and family whilst the fire pit roars (gin in hand).

Instead, it’s all about fluffy socks, warm blankets and soft cushions whilst you snuggle up and lose yourself in your favourite book. To us at Harrison Cropper, there’s something about this time of year that is simply magical.

Winter is all about taking the time for yourself, indulging in self-care and spending your days drinking copious amounts of hot drinks. What better way to relax than creating your own quiet corner, where you can escape from any anxieties of the outside world and take some much-needed time out?

At our gifts and interiors shop, we love helping our customers to create a cosy home. So with that in mind, we’ve come up with 5 top tips to create the perfect relaxation spot to unwind in.

1. Find your relaxation spot

Is there somewhere in your home you feel at peace, whether it’s your bedroom, a window seat, a hidden nook in your house, or simply your favourite spot on the sofa. Once you’ve found your special relaxation spot, fill it with comfy soft furnishings. We’re talking super soft cushions that feel like clouds, such as our glamour velvet cushions. Floor cushions such as our Buttermere Sheep design are also perfect to help you relax in a hidden nook.

2. Create the perfect lighting

Harsh lighting isn’t the most relaxing, so opt for smaller light sources such as a table lamp as they’re much better for creating a cosy atmosphere. Pop a lower watt bulb in and style your lamp with a stunning lampshade to soften any harsh glows. Browse our lampshades online to find your perfect style.

3. Add a calming scent

Scents like lavender are proven to help us destress and ease the mind. Pop a reed diffuser in your relaxation spot and you’ll soon find yourself transported to a realm of peace and tranquillity.

4. Warm up

There’s nothing better than a chunky throw to snuggle up in. Our stunning wool throws will keep you both warm while looking stylish. Pop the kettle on and make yourself a hot drink in one our beautiful china mugs for the full experience.

5. Relax your mind

Finally find your favourite book, or podcast and relax (please note, snacks are a must when relaxing!).
